The Theatre Royal Stratford East and Producer Arvind Ethan David have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a new musical based on a hit comedy movie ... poster to the right of us ...
"The Infidel" is a musical with book & lyrics by David Baddiel and music by Erran Baron Cohen. It tells the story of an ordinary British Muslim man, Mahmoud Nassir, who discovers that he is adopted and, worse, his birth parents were Jewish! The resulting cultural and religious chaos leads to an uproarious and insightful comedy of identity, race, prejudice and confusion.Think Book of "Middle East" ;-)
In order to stage this ambitious production, a further £55,000 is required. As a result, they're calling upon members of the public to pledge their support by 15 April 2014 to enable the show to go ahead.
Angels, who can pledge as little as £1, get a reward on a sliding scale, from regular rehearsal emails up to full Gala Performance attendance - go on, you know you want to!
and yes ... we have put our money where our mouth is ;-)
