Melissa Western delivers some impeccable interpretations of songs from Ella, Etta and Eartha, focusing on the year 1954. She outlines some of their different stories, each as black pioneers in entertainment. Her songs are not impersonations, but her rich tone pays tribute to these groundbreaking women. Her musicians on keyboard, double bass and saxophone are highly skilled in the jazz and swing which help make this a memorable evening.
