An one hour show that takes in several of the tales from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's best-loved books (not the Gruffalo though).
Woven together with both enthusiasm and imagination, the various tales are quite delightful - however, despite joining in with some of the well worn phrases from the books, the children did not seem completely engaged. In part this may have been the venue - sitting at the back of the auditorium with the action taking place on a stage put a barrier betwen the kids and the performance - had this been a smaller, more flexible venue with the kids sitting on the floor near the action then I think it would have felt more inclusive.
Or perhaps I shouldn't over-think it? We see a number of children's shows each year, this one is very good, but the overall effect on the day I saw it lacked magic.
