Through a Glass Darkly is the only one of Ingmar Bergman's films that he gave permission to be adapted for the stage. Jenny Worton's adaptation flows smoogthly whilst the production and design retain a slightly detached filmic quality. Ruth Wilson's descent into insanity is extremely well handled - internalised rather than lots of shouting and screaming ... beautiful.
I'm not sure if you can say you enjoy the play, it has a Scandinavian bleakness that is hardly likely to leave a smile on your face, but this was a superbly crafted production consumately acted ... I loved it! Heck, I even paid for my own tickets!
