The Ox and the Ass comes to Theatre 503

UK Theatre Web sponsors a Wolrd Premiere at exciting London venue Theatre 503.
PostScript Theatre and Theatre 503 present the World Premiere of

The Ox and the Ass

Written by Gillian Plowman Directed by Gene David Kirk Performed by Daryl Bennett and Robert Iles

We are all prisoners. Some of the State, Some of obsession. Some of our own needs.

A beautifully observed play on a dysfunctional relationship between father and son. Henry (Daryl Bennett) welcomes his father Jeremy (Robert Iles) into his flat and his life; but their lives are worlds apart giving them little in common. Jeremy is ex-landed gentry, disowned by his family when he turned to a life of crime, a life he seems unable, or unwilling, to renounce. Henry is a teacher with unreachable and self-imposed morals who becomes deeply affected by his father's arrival as the past comes to question the present.

Gillian Plowman: Gillian won the Verity Bargate award in 1988 with ME AND MY FRIEND, a poignantly funny play about the release of four patients from a psychiatric hospital into the community. It was first produced at the Soho Poly Theatre in 1990 and at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 1992, directed by Ian Rickson. There have been many fringe and festival productions of Gillian’s work since then and Samuel French has published a canon of her plays. The Jermyn Street Theatre is planning to produce CROOKED WOOD in 2007. Gillian is at present working on a fifth radio play for the BBC and a new stage play is in development with the Oval House theatre. http://www.gillian-plowman.co.uk
