The Bodyguard

From its impressive opening to its fabulous finale this is a real banger of a show. Not what I would traditionally call "my sort of show" it absolutely bowled me over with its power, inventiveness and energy. A cross between a musical, an arena concert and a cinematic experience this could easily have been a mish-mash but instead it is a cleverly constructed, fast, engaging show with a real story and believable, if slightly tongue in cheek, characterisations.

Melody Thornton as Rachel and Emily-Mae as Nicki both have amazing voices and their songs are allowed to run full length with decent staging resulting in concert quality performances.

I have seen this show twice before and this is definitely the best yet. Production has been tightened up over the years and the Stalker has finally become a threatening figure. The audience loved it, I loved it, a great evening out!
