You wouldn't know that this was near the end of the tour as the enthusiasm and energy from the whole cast is tip top. In fact I had almost forgotten what a great show this is and those criticisms I heard from audience members that some of the film was missed out really do miss the point - by a mile and a high heel.
We had Duncan James as our Tick who had a great voice and acted well but perhaps did not inhabit an Aussie drag as much as I would have wished - not that it detracted from the show. Simon Green is near perfection as Bernadette and Adam Bailey gave us a beautifully over-camp Adam. The flying Divas (Lisa-Marie Holmes, Laura Mansell and Catherine Mort) were amazing and Callum Macdonald as Miss Understanding made the absolute most of his two short sections - such boundless energy!
The band played fabulously, the sets and costumes are amazing and basically the show leaves everyone with an huge grin on their face - this is Entertainment with a capital E and I thoroughly recommend it.
As a small, minor, p.s. - the group sitting in front of us were the epitome of bad audience. I don't mind the jumping about in your seat bit, it's that sort of show, but chatting incessantly, taking photos and vaping for heaven's sake - even after the staff have asked you not to, is frankly out of order. You get my Arrogant Ass Audience Member Award ... and well done the Bristol Hippodrome staff for trying to handle it discreetly but firmly.
