What a great fun evening this was - one I had been looking forward to for some time if I'm honest.
A strong cast (good to see a wide range of shapes on stage), some amazing Angels (a good leg is a good leg whomsoever is flashing it!) and a versatile set keep the show moving along at a pace. The story is good enough, if a little predictable, and the delivery of the dialogue between songs is credible - which is not always the cae in musicals.
Although I didn't come away humming any of the songs, the music is certainly powerful and covers quite a large range of styles, especially for Lola (Kayi Ushe) and Charlie (Joel Harper-Jackson) both of whom are more than up to the task! Oh, and a thank you to the sound guys - so often the balance is poor for touring shows, yours was spot on from where I was sitting (stalls, row s).
This is definitely a feel-good show. Full of bling, great songs and fabulous show numbers - you will have a hoot, just go and enjoy yourself ... and remember to wear your bestest boots!
