A devised piece with an all female cast playing a wide range of characters with live music and song - telling a tale of revenge set in a (slightly) fictitious Mexico. Based on the imapct of the NAFTA (North America Free Trade Area) which brought Canada, USA and Mexico into a trade agreement to the benefit of Canada and America and the detriment of Mexico which suffered from "Big Business" placing all their low-pay, high pollution needs near its border.
Doesn't sound like fun? Well, "fun" is not the point, despite some moments of extremely well pointed humour, the point is to engage you in a story that borders on vigilantism whilst still retaining a sympathy for the pritagonists. It succeeds in spades, keeping the audience enthralled with movement that brings the horror of its story, and the repeated horror of the memories it invokes, at the forefront of our minds while carrying us along to an amazing conclusion.
A young girl, damaged by the pollution of the factories, loses her mother who is shot demonstrating for worker rights. Her mother leaves her a list of those she blames for their strife, from the boss to the President of America. This list becomes the girl's "bucket list", revenge to be taken before she herself dies. Ad Infinitum Theatre's production really won me over, beautifully crafted and carefully played, this is a show I shall remember for a long time
P.s. I actual saw this on preview as part of Bristol Ferment so hope the company don't mind me adding the review here
