Betty Blue Eyes, currently showing at the Novello in the West End, has posted early closing notices for 24th September. The show, which opened in April, has received mixed reviews but the early closing came as a surprise as it had been consistently playing to over 50% capacity.
Betty Blue Eyes joins the list of recent early closings and leaves another theatre with no resident .... but the West End abhors a vacuum so it will be interesting to see what other show gets its break. Cameron Macintosh said "the musical had failed to attract an audience in sufficient numbers to remain viable" he went on to assert that prevailing economic uncertainties nationally were the reason that theatregoers are avoiding new and unknown works.
Tickets for Betty Blue Eyes are still available - discounts of 20% available.
