There was certainly a lot to enjoy in this show, not least the passion and commtment of the cast. Great design a fabulous soundtrack reminiscent of 70's prog rock band ELP, imaginative choreogrpahy and a clever translation by Anne Carson all combine to give a fast-paced, accesible version of this Greek tragedy. A Greek chorus is well used by Maisie Newman who keeps the production moving and visually interesting throughout.
This is a Bristol Old Vic Young Company production and they do themselves proud.
There were a couple of sections played stage front on the floor which those of us in Row C simply couldn't see, an easy thing to fix. Sometimes the words were delivered more from memory than from thought processes and in a rather flat tone, but this will come with experience.
A really exciting show
