Almost 50 years to the day after Joan Littlewood s first production at the Theatre Royal opened, the theatre will mount a Variety Night - in the format established by this world-famous director - as one of many thank yous for all Joan did for the Theatre Royal. Hosted by Joan Littlewood favourite Toni Palmer, the evening will feature the likes of Kate Williams, host of many a Theatre Royal Variety Night, and Peter Straker, star of the hugely successful Sammy last autumn. The Jive Aces and the Jiving Lindy Hoppers will be adding to the merriment.
