Ever since movies began, the scientist - as saint and sinner - has been centre stage. Usually as sinner, Drs Jekyll, Rottwang, Frankenstein and Strangelove - come to mind. Conversely, real-life scientists have been presented as impossibly virtuous saints. Professor Christopher Frayling, Rector of the Royal College of Art, looks at a selection of movie scientists and reflects on the impact of these images.
