Transmissions is the REP's unique project aimed at nurturing the playwrights of the future. Each year, between October and May, about 20 playwrights aged between 12 and 25 from all over the West Midlands work with professional tutors to develop their own original ideas for new plays. Through three weeks in the summer a company of professional actors, directors and technicians collaborate on a remarkable showcase of their work, bringing their scripts to life in front of a real audience. Now in its fourth year, Transmissions will, for the first time, be going international with an exchange with the young playwright's programme of The Necessary Stage Theatre Company of Singapore.
