Alison Thirkell, a Byre Writers' member, first wrote 'Oh Such a Hungry Yearning', broadcast in several countries, for radio. Rewriting it for stage benefited enormously from the help of a professional director, professional actors and of other members of the writers' group, contributing to a large learning curve. One large step for one author - but the Byre Writers could be the first step for many other budding playwrights.
