Maggie Gee has published eight novels, including The Burning Book, Grace, Lost Children and The Ice People. She has a doctorate in the twentieth-century novel, and is a Fellow and Council Member of the Royal Society of Literature. She will be reading from her Orange prize-nominated novel, The White Family, an ambitious novel which takes on the taboo subject of racial hatred as it looks for the roots of violence within the family and within British society.
