A puppet opera for adults. A vixen has become a beautiful woman, married an exiled courtier and borne him a son. Their simple, idyllic life falls apart when the child discovers her in her fox-form. She flees into the forest, followed by her husband and son, determined to persuade her to return. The She-Fox of Shinoda is a traditional Japanese story from the 17th Century which has not been performed for fifty years. It is performed by Japanese puppet troupe Saruhachi-za, to music specially composed by Devon Based composer Colin Hodgetts.
