Imagine a laboratory filled with strange contraptions made out of bits of wire, old exhaust pipes and rusty kettles. Imagine a dog flying all alone into space in a specially fitted capsule. Imagine a monkey afloat on the Atlantic Ocean in the nose-cone of a rocket. These strange, sad and yet funny stories are the basis of One Small Step. What kinds of animals went into space before man could walk on the moon? Who was the first dog to come back from space and have puppies? And what is gravity? One Small Step explores a child's fascination with space travel and rockets together with how they play with objects. The stories unfold using hand-held puppetry, object manipulation, songs and music from a wind up gramophone.
