She grew up under house arrest and until the early 1990s was not allowed to attend university or publish her poems. Her new collection Haywire is a Poetry Book Society recommendation. Soleiman Adel Guemar's poetry sings of life's pleasures in the face of violent political oppression. Jordanian poet Amjad Nasser's Shepherd of Solitude - Selected Poems is his first collection in English. He co-founded the Al-Quds Al-Arabi daily newspaper, has published six collections of poetry and his poems have been translated into French, Italian, Spanish and German.
