The only London date in a short UK tour is a chance to hear Robert Adamson, one of Australia's finest poets, reading from his newly published Reading the River: Selected Poems. The tough scepticism of his earlier poems - the difficulties of childhood and loneliness of life in the city - gives way to the lyricism of his later work, examining existence as a mythological quest. Sharing the quest for spiritual truth, Gillian Allnutt reads from her sixth collection, Sojourner. Her poems question our very attempts at communication, asking for our patience as we join her in the pursuit of integrity. Two of her previous collections have been shortlisted for the TS Eliot prize.
