John Cooper Clarke - plus Kate Fox and Mike Edwards

John Cooper Clarke

Work:: John Cooper Clarke (S01359258444)

In a vain attempt at bourgeois credibility, Manchester's sharp-dressed, sharp-delivering punk poet Lenny, changed his name to John Cooper Clarke and embarked on a ?polysyllabic excursion though Thrillsville'! Clad in the slum chic of the hipster, he issued the slang anthems of the zip age in the desperate esperanto of bop. Expect a mix of hilarious anecdotes of life in a Northern town interspersed with machine-gun fast delivery of some of his best poems. If you think poetry is dull and boring, or posh and erudite - you haven't seen JCC!
Performer John Cooper Clarke

Production:: plus Kate Fox and Mike Edwards (T2107232073)

With his biting, satirical, political and very funny verse delivered in a rapid-fire performance style, John Cooper Clarke was initially the support act for many seminal punk bands including the Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, The Fall, Joy Division, Elvis Costello and Siouxsie and the Banshees. Since the punk days, he has been recognised as one of England's most important poets and performers. Sky television recently dedicated an entire night's programming to John; he has been interviewed for a special feature for BBC's The Culture Show; and he made a brief cameo as his younger self in the Ian Curtis biopic Control.
