Who Sen' Me?

Who Sen' Me?

Work:: Who Sen' Me? (S1578017544)

A solo performer plays a number of male and female characters in a bitter sweet account of the lives of West Indians who come to England in the Fifties. The new arrivants from the English-speaking Caribbean, the West Indies, had begun to reflect on their condition of being here in England - one foot still in the islands, the other stepping into brand new adventures. 'Wha' dhey doin' here? Who sen' dhem? An', look where dhey reach.' England would change them, but they would change England too. The mother country would never be the same again! Their tales resonate with those of migrant settlers the world over - Chines, Irish, Indian, Pakistani and Jewish - in fact their stories always involve and engage with those migrant settlers from other parts. Atmospheric video projections and an evocative soundtrack drawing on calypso, gospel, jazz, mento and pan music provide a backdrop for a moving performance.
