Waving not Drowning uses dance, music, masks, drama and video to tell the story of a patient s journey through serious illness and surgery towards death and life within the walls of a hospital. A cast of performers and musicians alongside a soundtrack of bass, keyboards, saxophones, voice, samples, percussion and drums lays the foundation for a ritual and dramatic ceremony enacted within a circle of candles on the altar of a wheeled hospital bed complete with trapeze frame at it s head.
