Vanity Fair

Work:: Vanity Fair (S5435)

Telling the tale of two school friends, Becky Sharp, a woman of considerable charms and undeniable flaws and naive Amelia Sedley. Vanity Fair ruthlessly exposes the foibles of nineteenth century society. Becky is a social climber supreme, irrestibly charming, vivacious and beautiful but also deceitful, unfaithful and manipulative. To what length will Becky go to secure herself a rich husband? The characters love and quarrel, live and die, get rich and are ruined. Passion, romance and betrayal sit side by side with honour, truth and loyalty.
Author William Makepeace Thackeray
