Turpin archiveArrested in York under the pseudonym John Palmer, we meet Dick in his prison cell as he awaits news from his father. The hope is that his father's influence will help get Dick's sentence commuted to transportation. Capable of pitiless crimes and chilling violence, they are not men to be cosied up to or put on pedestals. We're reminded that these were not selfless Robin Hoods, but self-serving gangsters who gave rein to their every terrifying whim.
