Tuesdays & Sundays swept Canada with five-star reviews, sold-out houses, and numerous awards including 3 out of the 5 Fringe Awards at the Sterling Awards 2000/2001 (Edmonton). It was hailed in Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver as one of the Top Ten Plays of the Year in 2001. Tuesdays & Sundays was inspired by an actual love story that took place on Prince Edward Island in 1887. As poetically retold by Daniel Arnold and Medina Hahn, the play creates two worlds, the limbo in which the spirits of young William and Mary, a rural Canadian teenage couple, awaken as the play opens and the rural community of Margate where they met and fell in love in 1887. However the two worlds are not wholly separate. In this dream state that could be one day, or one hundred years, after their story ended they question where they are, as they begin to relive the story that brought them there. Using an economical blend of poignant and humourous language they re-create the overwhelming passions of first love, the pangs of a six-month absence from each other, an unplanned pregnancy and a guilty and shameful young man amidst a community in which respectability is of the utmost importance. And as they try to cope, to keep love amongst the fear and confusions of youth, these two spirits stumble upon their own tragic ending.
