With a cast of one, The Storytellers is a play unlike any King of Kings epic: an altogether more intimate and up to date version of the Gospels. We are invited to eavesdrop on the reactions of eight of Jesus' contemporaries. Their personalities are intriguingly, powerfully filled out and their conversations given a generous injection of twentieth century culture by writer Andrew Brandon. As well as some engaging comic touches, this crossing of the time barrier shows that these people think, feel and react as we do.
