The Stoning - Scratch
Work:: The Stoning (S01523745826)
On a cold night in winter, a war is raging. A woman and a young man shelter from bombs falling on the city. But as they talk, they create something far more destructive...
The Stoning is a sensuous, delicate and uncompromising piece of theatre that cuts deep into the heart of sexual politics - Harold Pinter commented that the play is 'a very strong and powerful piece of work, beautifully constructed'. Ghazi Rabihavi is an award-winning children's writer, and author of a number of adult plays and novels. Due to censorship laws in Iran, however, few were ever published or performed. Rabihavi was arrested and imprisoned in 1983 after his first published work for adults was serialised (without permission), and subsequent works were effectively barred by the censor.
