The Price to Pay

Work:: The Price to Pay (S4650)

The play concerns an everyday married couple, Roger and Laura, whose lives are shattered when the Laura is kidnapped. She is taken from their house to a dark and hostile farm building by her brutal captors, the schizophrenic Dianne and the slightly backward Barry, and has to suffer their rough treatment while not knowing whether she will live or die. Barry tries to force his attentions on her, and even Dianne shows a sadistic interest. Husband Roger, left at home wondering whether she is still alive, is not helped by an inexperienced woman police inspector and her misogynist sergeant who appears more interested in scoring points against his boss than Laura s safe return. Eventually it is left to Laura to use her guile to win Barry over from Dianne s influence and gain her final release, but there is a price to pay.
