The P Word, is a new Horovitz play that tackles a topic much in the news in the US and in Scotland lately: teen pregnancy. The Byre Theatre will engage professional and St Andrews University student actors to work with Israel to bring this new work to a rehearsed reading stage at The Byre Theatre and to sit Isreal's own recent work alongside the scripts produced by the student Ten By Ten project. The P Word. But it was a subject that I wanted to attack. I was in Scotland when I read in the newspaper about this alleged pregnancy pact with 19 Gloucester girls. It was certainly a good read, but when I got home it just wasn't true,'' he says. "But it got me thinking about the subject.'' He ended up assisting the producer of a forthcoming HBO documentary on teen pregnancy in the area and learning a lot.
