Details
In 1827, William Corder murdered Maria Marten, the mother of his illegitimate child, and buried her body in the Red Barn. Because of his wife's recurring dream, Thomas Marten searched the barn and discovered the body of his daughter. The fact that this production gets unsullied, hearty fun from these macabre ingredients is proof of its sureness - of its energy that pushes aside any attempt to think seriously about the horrors. The Management ever anxious to gratify the Patrons of the Drama begs to inform them that no expense has been spared in securing the services of many of the Most Accomplished Thespians to appear in this Noteworthy Drama, the Profound and Powerful effect of which, in all its serious and interesting Portentions, and the Joyous Laughter produced in the Comic scenes, will surely exceed anything ever before put upon the stage by this company.
