The Moonstone

Work:: The Moonstone (S4258)

In 1799 a mysterious yellow diamond is looted from an Indian temple by John Herncastle of the British Army. He then bequeaths it to his niece, Rachel Verinder. But the Moonstone carries a curse with it, and the malicious Herncastle intends to bring harm to his sister's family with this gift. On the very night Rachel receives the diamond, it is stolen. So begins a classic tale of deception, intrigue and murder. Mr Bruff, the family solicitor, has called together the servants of the Verinder household to help him tell the story. By playing out the roles of all the characters who were ensnared by the diamond, they begin to unravel the mystery. Guiding them through the twists and turns is Sergeant Cuff, first of the Great Detectives. He steers them towards the solution to the riddle - who stole the Moonstone, and how?
