Details
In this comedy rival forms of justice collide in the form of La-Writ, the little French Lawyer. When he finds himself roped in as a second in a duel he develops a mania for violent retribution. His exploits are echoed by Lamira, who determined to be an honest wife, plots to slight dishonorable masculinity. Confusion and counter-plots escalate throughout the play. "Shakespeare and the Lawyers" has been chosen as Globe Education's spring theme to complement the Globe's anniversary production of Twelfth Night in the Middle Temple Hall. The programme of staged reading and lectures will explore the lawyers' relationship to the theatre in the 16th and 17th centuries.
