The Lamppost Petition

Work:: The Lamppost Petition (S01392301184)

This is about the things you never said and the questions you always wanted to ask. It's the photograph you carry round in your purse and the sound of that song that tastes like apple pies (apples from the garden back home, you know?) But this isn't a twee-party. Hang up your tea towels because this is a yarn bomb! This is about defying the odds, building a house, breaking the rules and putting on your best dancing 'shoeses'. The Lamppost Petition is a look at what it means to grow older in today's society. Asking what can your body do now that it won't be able to do in 50 years time and what have we still to learn? Questioning and celebrating the way we share stories of our loved ones, exploring the ways that we share our own stories as we age, and taking a look at how the stories of others change as those people begin to leave. Inspired by personal family history and informed by the stories of a wide range of people from across the North East, The Lamppost Petition is a celebration of living, sharing, protesting and ageing ungracefully. Taking a look at the challenges facing older people today and pondering what will be it store for future generations as they too grow older. A story spanning from Newcastle to the Midlans to Italy and Ireland - It's bad at geography. This is a petition to get a lamppost at the end of the street we live on... Will you sign?
