The Kisses archiveAn adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Many hours of historic research have taken Rebecca Morden deep into Stoker's mind. Her adaptation not only delivers the author's intention more faithfully than previous works but takes its allegory further than he could ever have imagined. Crude Hammer Horror thrills have been swapped for a far richer experience: thought-provoking, spine-tingling, sexual and darkly humorous in equal parts. The production is highly charged, challenging and awash with interacting undercurrents. Count Dracula's chilling abuse of power and money, mind games and sexual bullying are brought vividly into focus. Meanwhile, demonisation, paranoia, xenophobia and other contemporary obsessions are unsettlingly explored.
