Work:: The Jewish Wife (S01909484131)
Production:: Gameshow and Supporting Wall: Winner of the JMK Award 2010 (T0720872806)
Frankfurt, 1935. As a fascist government takes control, a woman plans her escape. This year’s JMK award-winner takes a fresh look at a work of personal tragedy and national travesty. A woman abandons her home, friends and family in an intimate moment played out across 1930s Germany. Immersing the audience in a landscape of domesticity and fear throughout the building, director Matthew Evans presents epic theatre on a small scale. The JMK Trust was founded to give practical learning opportunities to young theatre directors in memory of James Menzies-Kitchin; a theatre director of thrilling promise. The JMK Award allows one talented director a year to stage their own production of a classic text.
