The abandoned children of Victorian Liverpool are brought back to life in this poignant tale of friendship and new beginnings. Set in a workhouse-style industrial school in 1880's Liverpool, a group of forgotten children struggle to overcome the hardships and harsh regime of the sinister Mr Goodridge who believes the children are a result of 'laziness, drunkeness and vice' and are mere 'paupers' getting what they deserve. Tragedy strikes during a bid to escape, but freedom comes from an unexpected quarter as they embark on a life-changing journey to a new land and better future. With a a delightful mix of familiar street songs, popular music of the era and comedy, the show is performed by a cast of Liverpool children from Action for Achievement and professional actors and singers. A powerful, brand new play, suitable for all ages.
