The Galitizian Jewess

Work:: The Galitizian Jewess (S3363)

A one-woman play for a young actress, it tells the story of a teenage Jewish girl from Galitzia in Poland, who sets off with her family to escape first the Germans, then the Russians, then the Germans again. Along the way she loses the rest of her family, through misfortune, bad timing and betrayal. She survives mainly because of her teenage instincts not to do what she is told. The play is based on the life of Eva Deutsch.
