The Face Maker archiveHillary - one of England's beautiful young men - is severely disfigured both physically and mentally, when his spitfire plane is shot down during the Battle of Britain and he suffers extensive burns. A relationship between the renowned plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe known as 'The Maestro' who inspired the formation of 'The Guinea Pig Club' and his toughest charge the World War II RAF pilot Richard Hillary who later went on to write The Last Enemy, about his war experiences. A very truthful look at the human condition in times of great triumph and despair and the effects it has on oneself and those closest to us.
