The Dragon archiveA town dominated by a three headed dragon; a virgin on the sacrificial table; a hero ready to right wrongs...a Russian fairy story that poses some hard questions about tyranny, tyrants and the people they oppress. A town is ruled over by a dragon who, once a year, demonstrates his power by devouring a local maiden. But this year the chosen maiden, Elsa, wins the protection of the knight Lancelot, who announces his intention to defeat the Dragon in a battle. But there is a mixed reaction by local townspeople to the new threat to the tyrannous Dragon, especially from the local Mayor who fears for his own power, and they do their best to hinder Lancelot's attempts. But even when Lancelot wins through, people's reliance on a leader leads them down another path to tyranny.
