Holstenwall. A sleepy provincial town, where Franzis Gruber, a lowly bureaucrat lives a neat and ordered life. When a travelling fair arrives, full of clowns, freaks, magicians and sleepwalkers, it brings with it chaos and disorder, plunging Franzis and the town into a series of nightmarish murders.
