Three successful women and their partners, turning forty as they reflect on their lives and face an uncertain future. The sesires of two women to have children are contrasted - the unfeeling gynaecologist and the Eastern European bureaucracy. Whatever has happened, and is happening, there is a need for a belief in the future.
