The Boy's Own Story archiveJohn McKenna - the best goalkeeper never to play for England - is making a comeback as player/manager with Sunday league club Saltdean. Staged in a full-size goal on real turf, McKenna reflects on his FA Cup Final appearance and re-creates Gordon Banks' wonder save from Pele in the 1970 World Cup. This funny and poignant monologue of the goalkeeper's art uses the goalkeeper as a metaphor for the loneliness of an individual. Lineker, Hansen and 'Motty' all put in appearances courtesy of Alistair McGowan's voiceover.
