Edward blows in from the mainland to change things: the island's whisky based economy is faltering and it's his job to turn it round and safeguard production of the Angels' Share. But the island and Mhairi, daughter of the Distillery owner, seduce him with their romance and their contradictions. Against the dramatic backdrop of an island perched on the brink of change, a battle begins for Mhairi's heart between Edward and her life-long love, Paraig - the passionate revolutionary. Years later, Rosie, the daughter, prepares to leave the island and shares a whisky with her father, Edward, in an attempt to unravel the ghosts of the past and the truth about what really happened with Paraig to change the island forever.
