Steven Whinnery and Gary Stevens archiveSteven Whinnery Was I Mistaken - From the maker of Twins, Dancing in my Bedroom and Handy Hints for the Home Kidnapper comes another twisting, tilting, delightful and uplifting piece of visual theatre that explores the world of modern hysteria and obsession: spontaneous combustion, multiple personality disorder, alien abduction, regular exercise and therapy. Things which seem to have taken the place of religion and belief, but can aerobics be a way of life? Colliding stories, quirky performers, bizarre choreography, lilting music, puzzling contradictions and haunting images. Gary Stevens Thread - One of Britain's leading performance artists, Gary Stevens was the recipient of one of the 1998 Paul Hamlyn Awards for Visual Art. Thread is a live solo performance, a compelling monologue which conveys an implausible and comic Hitchcockian fantasy of a man who walks onto a stage as a way of hiding from his would-be captors. Beneath the seemingly ordinary material of Stevens' work is a truly alien nature which creeps up on you slowly, leaving you with slippery images that will not go away.
