Details
With no grand ambition other than dancing for the fun of it, Maxine, Rose, Andy, Lynne, Dorothy, Sylvia, Vera and Geoffrey meet each week at Mavis's tap class for beginners. Then well meaning but snobbish Vera joins them, resplendent in her Pineapple dance wear and armed with endless unwanted advice. Forced to take a closer look at themselves, the group soon realise that their need for the tap class is far greater than the mere urge to master the shuffle-ball-change. Richard Harris's script won The London Standard's Best Comedy award in 1986 and was filmed, with Liza Minelli, in 1991.
