Smudge archiveHow do you know what you cannot see? Set in Toronto, Smudge is a powerful account of a young woman losing her sight, and her struggle to negotiate and survive as the world slips from view. Sixteen years ago Alex Bulmer was diagnosed as having the degenerative eye condition retinitus pigmentosa, which has left her blind, with shadow and light perception. She started writing Smudge during the time she was losing her sight.
