Sita archiveIn the Ramayana, Sita is traditionally portrayed as the devoted wife of Rama but Sita's role is controversially questioned in this powerful new production. Sita uncovers hidden histories of the heroine of this sacred Indian myth and the real person behind the supposed ideal of womanly virtue is revealed, as the character of Sita struggles to define her own womanhood. The devised performance will explore the tale of Sita from the perspective of the modern Asian woman and will appeal to people with an interest in South Asian culture and experimental theatre.
