n 1599, Will Kemp, the most popular entertainer of his day, left Shakespeare's company under a cloud. Nobody knows why. In 1600, he morris-danced from London to Norwich. It was a spectacular popular success. In 1601, he morris-danced from London to Rome. It was a disaster. By 1603, he was dead, buried in a pauper's grave.
