Scenes from a Separation archiveThere are two sides to every separation. Mathew and Nina have been married for twelve years. Mathew is a successful publisher; he knows his mind and he is always in control. His path is littered with the discarded souls of those who have tried to keep up. His side is written by Andrew Bovell, author of Holy Day, Speaking in Tongues (turned into the film Lantana), and co-writer of Strictly Ballroom. Nina is a journalist who hasn't worked since the birth of their two children. When Mathew suggests she takes on the biography of the new Australian of the Year, she throws herself into the project with an all-consuming enthusiasm. Her side is written by Hannie Rayson, author of Hotel Sorrento (Australian Writers Guild Award), Life After George, Inheritance and Two Brothers. A play about sex, sacrifice and survival, of break-up and break-down, of falling in love and getting found out.
